Attention audiophiles! Introducing a rare, restored Model MC30 audio component cabinet designed by the prolific and venerated Jacob Jensen for Bang and Olufsen. Constructed with Brazilian rosewood veneer, replete with stunning variegated woodgrains unique to the hardwood species this cabinet was built to accommodate most Beosystems produced throughout the late 60's and early to mid-70's. Framed with solid aluminum edges, the piece echoes Jensen's mixed use of both natural and refined materials. The cabinet sits on an aluminum silver patinated base with black patinated stretcher across the back adding to the character of this icon of the early 1970's.
Jacob Jensen was a highly regarded Danish industrial designer best known for his work with Bang & Olufsen. Jensen designed numerous popular high-end consumer products, developing a functional minimalism style that formed a prominent part of the Danish modern movement. In 1958 he founded the Jacob Jensen Design Studio. Jensen designed for other brands including Alcatel, Kirk, Boform, General Electric, International Gift Corporation, JO-JO, Labofa, Rodenstock, Rosti (Rosti Mepal), and Stentofon. His works have been featured at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City, and have received numerous design awards as well as a legacy of helping to promote the tenants of functional minimalism.

The bottom two pull-out sliders … moreThis instantly recognizable Model MC30 media console cabinet has recently undergone a partial restoration process. The bottom two pull-out sliders have been fabricated and show only minor variance between the original wood tone. The rosewood veneer on the outer portion of the cabinet shows some minor bubbles, pressure dings and surface scratches (all shown in the detail photos and natural light video provided). With that said, the wood is in overall very good shape and the variegated woodgrains of the Brazilian rosewood are absolutely stunning in natural light. The aluminum base too shows vintage wear such as multiple surface scratches and nicks (shown in the detail photos provided). All three drawers open and close with east. This iconic media cabinet is functional, structurally solid and ready for a lifetime more of use.
