English Oil Painting on Canvas in Gilt Frame. Signed "E Green" in the corner, this oil painting of yellow and pink roses in a teal vase carries a quiet confidence that draws you in and holds you there. The brushwork is assured and expressive, with a luminous quality that catches the light in a way that feels almost alive.
Painted around 1970, it sits within a tradition of British domestic still life — modest in subject, generous in feeling. The artist may not be widely known, but the skill on display is genuine and speaks clearly. The ornate rococo-style gilded frame is original to the piece and adds just the right amount of drama without tipping into excess.
