The … Read more Each cabinet is constructed in softwood and finished throughout in a red-painted ground with green and gilt-outlined panel borders. The upper register holds two drawers with hand-painted floral cartouches depicting lilies and cherry blossom; the lower section opens via a pair of doors painted with larger folk compositions of peonies, lotus, chrysanthemum, and birds among flowering branches. Hardware throughout consists of brass escutcheon plates with iron ring pulls. The plain-boarded natural wood interior includes one removable shelf. The reverse is unfinished. Paint shows crazing and loss consistent with age. See less
