A beautiful patinated bronze dancer on a marble base: in a graceful pose, she playfully passes a ball from one hand to the other behind her back.
this sculpture is also remarkable for the quality of its casting and patina.
the artist's signature, a. Gory, is engraved on the foot. Affortunato gory was an italian sculptor from florence, active from 1895 to 1925. He studied sculpture at the academy of fine arts under auguste rivalta.
like many italian artists, gory settled in paris at the beginning of the 20th century and changed his name to give it a more french sound; he would, in fact, use numerous variations to sign his sculptures.
he began exhibiting at the salon des artistes français in 1902 and continued until 1923.
slight wear to the patina, minor chips to the marble base.

this model is listed in several sizes; ours is among the largest.
