This magnificent, hand-welded steel maze table is a prime example of 1970s American Studio Craft furniture, heavily influenced by the iconic Brutalist "Cityscape" and sculptured metal designs of Paul Evans and Silas Seandel.
Composed of hundreds of individual rectangular steel tubes, the base is meticulously torch-cut and hand-welded into an intricate, chaotic geometric labyrinth. The unmasked material connections and visible weld beads celebrate the raw, industrial craftsmanship of the era. This functional sculpture commands attention, demanding space as a monumental architectural anchor that creates high visual tension in any modern, eclectic, or brutalist-inspired interior.

Crafted from heavy-duty iron with a striking, naturally oxidized rust patina, the maze-like foundation is incredibly durable and perfectly suited to anchor either a high-end interior space or a curated outdoor patio and garden setting. The table includes a thick, heavy plate glass top (not original to the base). Please note that this vintage glass does feature some deep scratches from previous use. While the glass is still highly functional and presents beautifully as-is, the base can easily accommodate a brand-new custom glass top of your choosing should you desire a completely flawless surface. However, this specific glass interacts phenomenally with the metalwork—catching the light and casting an incredible, ambient blue reflection down through the iron maze, highlighting the intricate depth and shadows of the Brutalist geometry. less
