its octagonal shape with canted corners rests on a raised pedestal foot, lending it a noble and refined presence. The domed lid is adorned with a finely worked gadrooned frieze and crowned with a stepped knob. A discreet relief cartouche graces the front—a characteristic detail of prestigious french and english silverware of this period.

the blackened wood handle, likely ebony, is held by silver-plated scroll mounts. The slender swan-neck spout harmoniously completes the design. A maker's mark is visible on the base.
