An exceptional and rare Quimper earthenware coffee service by Paul Fouillen (1899–1958), a major figure in the post-war revival of Breton ceramics.
Dating from 1948–1955, this set perfectly illustrates the artist's instantly recognizable style: geometric designs inspired by Brittany, a warm palette dominated by black, brown, red, and pink, and a striking stylized rooster motif on the coffee pot, emblematic of his work.
Each piece is entirely hand-painted and signed P. Fouillen Quimper.
Composition:
* 14 cups
* 16 saucers
* 1 coffee pot with lid
* 1 sugar bowl with lid
* 1 milk jug
Condition:
Very good condition.
The set has only three very small, discreet chips on three cups, which do not detract from the overall appearance of the service.
The colors are particularly fresh and vibrant.
