Shotgun Canyon (Tales of the Old Wild West-Book 15) by Doyle Trent. Published by Kensington Pub Corp, 1990. Forced into early retirement from the cattle business by a bullet wound in his backside, Buck Innes was content to spend his time whittlin’ on the front porch of Mrs. Davenport’s boarding house in Cripple Creek—until an old gold miner named Spooky Hallows suddenly disappeared in the wild country a few miles west of town. Word was that Spooky had struck it rich, and it wasn’t long before a lot of strangers were crowding into Cripple Creek asking after Spooky’s whereabouts. Buck goes in search of Spooky and get's a lot more than he had planned on.
Harry Schaare was a prolific artist for hard and softcover books. He designed covers for Zebra Publishing, Harper Collins, Kensington Publishing Co., Jove, and others. He also did magazine work for Saturday Evening Post, Boy's Life, Sports Illustrated, and various men's adventure magazines. He always retained the original paintings. If you love Old West movies, books, and culture, you will love this painting.
