This philosophical sculptural lamp transforms a utilitarian object into an instrument of contemplation. A 1987 Chinese scale beam—once used to measure physical weight—is given a new vocation: to serve as a gauge for light and time. It rests on a base of lightning-struck wood, bearing the capricious force of nature, while a circa-1950s blue-and-white porcelain bowl cradles a warm LED glow, giving a visible "weight" to time itself.
This piece invites contemplation: what counterweight should we use to measure the brilliant, yet fleeting, moments of our existence?
