The French Orientalist painter dedicated, as are twin brother Eugene Jules, representations of landscapes, and more specifically the Maghreb scenes.
However, it is the town of Porte-Joie, in Eure, the Artist Soissonnais chose to find us here. This small village Normand, which carries since 2018 and its merger with Tournedos sur Seine, name of Gate Seine, has several buildings, mainly religious, listed in the Inventory of Cultural Heritage.
We see one of them in the center of the web, along with small houses with roofs of various heights. The hamlet is in a green, hilly background, with trees to the left. This Landscape, located along the Seine, is reflected in the river water.
This painting is encased in a frame golden molding on the inside, and Scalloped on the outer periphery.
The Work is signed by its author at the bottom left of the canvas, dated 1892.
We appreciate the sobriety and harmony of the colors chosen by the artist for the realization of this painting, where Heaven and Water predominantly occupy the space.
