Pencil drawing on paper attributed to Sebastiano Ricci and presumably made in the early 18th century. The subject of the work is an "Assumption and coronation of the Blessed Virgin".
The drawing, whose legibility is partially compromised by the fading of the pencil mark, was plausibly part of an album as can be denoted by the marks on the reverse. The sheet of paper analyzed with a UV lamp has a watermark with a symbol or initials referable to the Bolognese area between the end of the 17th and the beginning of the 18th century.
The description of the work and its attribution were made by the art historian Agata Keran.
The state of conservation is good, the sheet has some spots of humidity and yellowing due to time.
The design is sold including a wooden frame from the early 19th century with hand-blown glass.
The measurements of the work are 49.5 x 35 cm (the overall size including the frame is 73 x 58 cm). This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
issues arising from misattribution
