The gilding and japanning on this piece are top notch. Usually the gilding is quite faded and worn on pieces like this but that is not the case here. The black japanning is deep and the details in the gilding are clear. The contrast between the gilded design and the black japanned background is really striking. The design features wonderful chinoiserie elements of flowers and birds. This is an old piece most likely made around the year 1810 and has an amazing provenance to boot. It would work so well as table behind a couch, or along a wall, or in front of a window.

I have the listed width for when the piece is closed which is 42.5". It is 5 ft. 1 1/4" in width when the leaves are extended. It has two drawers that extend out on either side. The table is resting on casters which allows it to be moved around.
