Executed with generous impasto and energetic palette-knife work, the painting beautifully illustrates the artist’s distinctive balance between abstraction and figuration. Thick layers of paint create remarkable texture and movement, while the subtle blue-grey background enhances the brilliance of the creamy white blossoms and warm ochre highlights.

Idka Cohen studied at the Académie Julian and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris before exhibiting regularly at the Salon d’Automne, the Salon de la Jeune Peinture and the Salon des Indépendants. Throughout her career she received several prestigious distinctions, including the Prix International Neumann (1959) and the Prix Othon Friesz (1960), and her works entered important public collections.

This composition perfectly represents the artist’s mature style, combining expressive brushwork, sophisticated colour harmonies and a strong decorative presence.
