The work depicts a woodland landscape by the water, with a beautiful rendering of light and reflections. The brushwork is free and expressive, in a Post-Impressionist style.

The painting is presented in a superb antique frame of giltwood and stucco, richly decorated with foliate and rocaille motifs. The frame shows signs of age, visible in the photographs, but retains considerable charm and decorative presence.

On the back, several provenance details are visible: a label in the name of Reine Cimière, the Parisian address 11 avenue Jules Janin, Paris XVI, a mention of two paintings registered, number 926, as well as an old label where "Salon" and the date 1964 are visible. The frame also bears the stamp of Galerie Guillet, a Parisian framer.
