This elegant still life depicts a generous bouquet of freshly cut pink and white peonies in a clear glass vase. Painted by Victor Zolnierowicz (1908–1995), a French painter of Polish origin who settled in Gagny, this work perfectly illustrates his penchant for luminous and richly textured floral compositions.
The painting immediately captivates with its subtle palette of grayish greens, powdery pinks, and pearly whites. The brushstrokes are free, thick, and expressive, lending the flowers a remarkable freshness. The interplay of light on the glass vase and the delicate petal resting on the table adds depth and poetry to the composition.
The work is signed in the lower left corner. The reverse also bears the artist's name and an old label indicating his studio address in Gagny, further enhancing its authenticity and appeal.
The painting is presented in a remarkable antique carved and gilded wooden frame in the Louis XV Rococo style. Richly adorned with shells, scrolls, and foliage, it perfectly highlights the composition. It shows some signs of age, consistent with its condition, which contribute to its charm and authenticity.
with its generous size, the quality of its execution, and its exceptional decorative presence, this work is a beautiful piece for a classic, Haussmannian, or contemporary interior.
