A pair of Neo Gothic church architectural elements dating from the 19th century. These decorative pieces originate from a church in the Cantal region of France and were originally part of a larger ecclesiastical structure.
Made of hand-painted terracotta, they feature Gothic architectural details, including pinnacles, tracery, floral ornamentation and polychrome decoration with gilded accents.
The open backs indicate that these elements were originally mounted against a larger construction, such as an altar, reredos or other church furnishing. Today they can be used as decorative architectural objects in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
The set remains in good antique condition with age-related wear, losses to the painted decoration, minor chips and surface marks consistent with age and use. Both pieces are structurally sound.
