The original brand markings and acceptance protocol remain affixed to the back of the piece, documenting the East German design history of this mid-century piece. The cabinet is crafted from ash wood, which exhibits a characteristic, warm, and slightly yellowish grain. Originally designed as a display cabinet, the glass sliding doors were lost by the previous owner, prompting us to undertake a contemporary and creative restoration. The gaps where the glass once slid were expertly filled with wooden strips. These lines were then painted a soft light blue to match the newly lacquered base. The subtle color accents harmonize beautifully with the light natural ash wood, giving this classic piece a fresh, contemporary look. Functionally, this piece of furniture impresses with its well-structured layout. Two open shelves in the upper section offer space for books or decorative items. Directly below are four drawers, arranged in pairs, one above the other and the other beside each other. Two spacious hinged doors form the lower section, concealing additional, discreet storage space. A thoughtfully designed and distinctive storage unit that combines historical substance with individual design.
