The cherub, kneeling beneath the shelf, displays a serene and graceful pose, holding a lute. His youthful face, framed by abundant curls, expresses an almost melancholic gentleness, typical of angelic representations in the Italian Renaissance.
The delicately outstretched wings, carved from broad, overlapping feathers, add an ethereal dimension to the composition. The wood, patinated in a deep, warm brown, reveals exquisite chiseling: the folds of the drapery, the anatomical modeling, the texture of the feathers—all testify to masterful craftsmanship.
