The chair is a prime example of the Scandinavian 20th century design with elegant proportions and sleek finishes. This chair has a luxurious touch with the thick cushion and padded backrest. The fabric is the original fabric and it has some traces of use. The padding is also original but has dried over time. There are some marks and traces of use on the front legs, see pictures. The legs which are lacquered hardwood. ”Boet”, roughly translated to the ”the nest” or ”the home” is one of Schulz more iconic and recognisable designs. Otto Schulz (1882-1970) was a German-born designer and architect who spent a large part of his life in Gothenburg, Sweden. In 1920 he founded the firm ”Boet” together with Adolf Nordeberg which grew to be a very influential interior and furniture maker. Schulz had a daring and varied aesthetic which has become important to both the Swedish Grace and Scandinavian Modern movements. In addition to the store, ”Boet” was also a journal that Schulz published in accordance with the firm and they would both fortify Schulz’s position in the interior design world. The chair is the namesake of both the firm and journal and certainly lives up to its iconic name. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
