Vintage 1970s European Grand Tour Travel Ephemera Collage Mix Media Art
A wonderfully personal large-scale travel collage assembled from European postcards, photographs, hotel and restaurant memorabilia, matchbooks, tickets, menus, maps, and a red France luggage ribbon. Destinations and landmarks throughout France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, England, and other European locales create a richly layered Grand Tour narrative in a predominantly blue palette. Visible dated ephemera and period graphics suggest the collage was assembled during the 1970s, possibly incorporating souvenirs gathered over several years. Presented under glass in a blue frame with age-related distressing, surface wear, and small losses. The backing paper shows staining and wear consistent with age, as photographed.
