A cabinet-sized abstract bronze sculpture by listed artist Sami Ben Lulu, titled "Protection". Two stylized, intertwined figures are rendered in a smooth, dark-patinated bronze finish — a fluid, organic modernism reminiscent of mid-century figurative abstraction.
Provenance: Acquired through Galerie Heritage International on Yorkville Avenue in Toronto, under the direction of gallery director Dr. Igor Kuchinsky, as part of a private collection built by artist Eve Paige Spencer and her husband, writer and art collector Donner Spencer. Eve Paige Spencer's own work is held in the permanent collection of the Ruth Chandler Williamson Gallery at Scripps College, California.
Documentation from the original gallery — Exhibition showcase flyer and the director's handwritten price log — establishes a period retail valuation for the piece. A digital copy of both documents is included in photos, the physical originals remain with a larger group of collection records and are not included with this sale.
Measuring a refined 10" in height, this sculpture is signed "Sami B.L." directly into the bronze, with the edition number 5/25 stamped into the base — both visible and legible on the piece itself. It functions perfectly as a premier desktop object, mantel piece, or focal point for custom gallery shelving, and is equipped with two integrated screw mounts extending from the base, engineered for a secure presentation into a marble, hardwood, or pedestal mount. A strong addition for collectors of 20th-century figurative bronze and small-format modernist sculpture.
Note: the piece requires a stand or mount to display upright and will not stand freely on its own.
