The weaving of carpets in Karabakh has developed thanks to the rich resources of raw materials (local wool and natural vegetable dyes) and to the ancient tradition of craftsmanship. Very often they are found in elongated measures such as our specimen which has a particular decoration with thick and repeated rosettes. The predominant color is the ''cochineal red'', which is a natural, very expensive dye, obtained from the homonymous insect, which secretes a very dense and intensely colored liquid, which uses as a shell to protect itself from predators See less
