A captivating masterpiece of late 19th-to-early 20th-century American amusement history, this monumental, life-size carved wooden carousel horse sits at the brilliant intersection of fine folk art and industrial design.
The figure features an extraordinarily expressive face with wide glass eyes, a highly detailed, carved, flowing mane, a matching structural wooden tail, and its original hand-forged iron stirrup steps and loop stirrup handles, securely bolted to the frame.
Stripped down to its bare, natural wood elements, the piece showcases stunning, deep-grain texturing and a raw, organic warmth highly coveted by modern interior designers.
The horse is securely mounted onto an authentic, heavy-gauge galvanized industrial metal display pole anchored by a massive circular cast iron base plate underneath.
A true architectural showstopper, this rare folk art carving commands immediate attention as a focal centerpiece for a grand entry hall, luxury library, or upscale retail space.

Woodwork & Finish: The multi-section stacked wood body is exceptionally dense and rigid. The finish has been entirely stripped down to its raw, unvarnished natural grain. Reflecting its long operational history, the wood exhibits authentic character wear, minor surface abrasions, age-appropriate wood shrinkage, and tight, stable separation lines at the historical join seams, which do not compromise its integrity. Hardware & Base Mounting: The heavy industrial mounting pole and cast-iron circular base are structurally sound and remarkably heavy, ensuring the horse remains upright and secure, without rocking. T The metal plate under the belly retains its hand-painted operational identifier markings. All iron step stirrups and harness handles are securely anchored to the core frame. less
