This exceptional antique Chinese tall display pedestal features fine hand-carved workmanship dating to the Late Qing Dynasty (1880-1910). Crafted from a dense, heavy Asian hardwood (Rosewood Hongmu) with an oxidized rich dark patina, the stand is designed with an elegant octagonal frame highlighted by a beaded border enclosing a beautiful variegated inset marble panel.
The upper framework is decorated with highly detailed, pierced and reticulated floral aprons (Hawthorn flowers, denoting prosperity) extending smoothly into stylized cabriole legs. The tall legs are structurally unified by a central X-form under-stretcher, which also has pierced carvings.
Crucially, the unfinished underside retains its original hand-painted cursive artisan signature and assembly script in oxidized black ink—confirming authentic workshop provenance and period construction.
This piece of art is very robust and would wonderfully showcase a heavy ceramic planter, cloisonné urn, or fine sculpture.

The inset marble top is structurally sound, clean, and flush with the perimeter wood framing. Wear is beautifully consistent with historic age and minimal decorative use. less
