Patented March 31, 1925, this ingenious combination walking stick and folding seat was designed as a portable perch for sporting events, hunting, fishing, parades, and outdoor gatherings. It folds flat for carrying and quickly opens into a stable tripod seat.

Constructed of hardwood with steel hardware, the piece retains its original maker's stamp on the underside:

The wood has developed a rich, warm patina from age and use. The steel hardware shows honest oxidation consistent with its age. The original retaining ring remains in place, and the mechanism opens and folds smoothly.

A wonderful example of early twentieth-century American functional design that works equally well as a collectible, cabin accessory, or conversation piece.
