Vintage Kan-O-Seat folding walking stick seat by Stafford-Johnson Seating Corp. of Ionia, Michigan. Wood construction with steel hardware, a round folding seat, and an underside maker’s stamp bearing the patent date March 31, 1925. Folds flat into a walking stick and opens into a tripod seat. Retaining ring is present, and the mechanism opens and folds smoothly.
Approximately 35″ long × 1.5″ deep when folded. Seat diameter: 9″. Seat height when open: 18.5″.
Wood shows warm patina, scratches, finish wear, and several cracks on the extending inward from the seat’s edge, visible on both the top and underside, with small chips along the rim. These are on the outer veneers, not through the seat Steel hardware shows oxidation. Offered for collection or display; suitability for weight-bearing use has not been established.
