A small french studio table lamp on a hand-thrown grès base, the dense, high-fired stoneware independent french potters have long preferred for the way it takes a quiet mineral glaze. A matte, lightly speckled finish in sand and greige drawn through with brown, the understated palette that's made french studio stoneware a steady favorite with collectors. The underside is incised by hand, not stamped, it reads "grès… fait main," stoneware, handmade, marking it as a potter's piece rather than factory ware. The new open-weave rattan shade is a deliberate pairing: its honeyed tone answers the earthiness of the clay and reads as easily organic-modern and coastal as it does rustic french. Takes a single e14 (small edison screw) bulb; a candelabra led suits it well.
