An exceptional pair of cylindrical glass table lamps, signed F.J., of French origin. The glass shade comprises the entire lamp, concealing the bulb within. An original botanical pattern, featuring trees and fern leaves in multi-layered or bent glass, extends across a brown band. The bent glass work is a handcrafted process that enhances its beauty and originality; in this case, it is evident in the ornamental elements, which double in volume and add color. The colorless base displays a matte or frosted finish as a result of the acid etching process. Frosting is the process by which glass undergoes a chemical or abrasive treatment to obtain a matte surface, reducing its transparency and creating a smooth texture.

During the 1960s and 1970s, it was common for lighting manufacturers to use these unique cylindrical frosted glass shades to create accent or table lamps, taking advantage of the subtle diffusing effect produced by the frosted glass when the bulb inside is lit.
