Judging by the back of the board I think it's a safe bet this was painted in the first half of the last century. The cavalryman is definitely European, possibly Italian or Spanish, and the setting appears to be desert. The riders in the background appear to wear Arab garb. 16" x 20" Oil on artist board signed Frances Johnson.
