An exceptional mid-century Danish Modern 3-seater sofa featuring a stunning frame crafted from rich, highly figured Brazilian Rosewood (Jacaranda). This premium piece showcases the peak of 1960s Scandinavian craftsmanship, boasting clean lines, an organic, sculptural silhouette, and a beautiful vertical slatted backrest. It was purchased from the legendary Horseman Antiques on Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn NY in 2010.
The Star Feature
What elevates this particular sofa to collector-level status is the wood grain hidden beneath the cushions. The removable seat platforms are veneered in a spectacular, dramatic cathedral grain pattern. Utilizing such high-grade rosewood on parts of the frame that are traditionally covered is a hallmark of premium, high-end production from the era.
Condition & Patina
The frame is in excellent structural condition with a gorgeous, deep luster to the wood. It retains its original dark brown leather cushions, which display surface wear and light cracking characteristic of age and careful use. The webbing under the seats remains intact and supportive.
