This is a fantastic large original Mid-Century oil on canvas by listed New York artist Dr. Patricia Hermine Sloane (1934–2001). Sloane was an accomplished American painter, author, professor of Fine Arts, and an active participant in New York's postwar art scene. Her work is represented in the Museum of Modern Art lending collection, and she was a member of the influential 10th Street Galleries (Camino Gallery) during the 1950s and 1960s alongside many of the leading artists of the New York School.
This vibrant large-scale composition is a wonderful example of Sloane's distinctive style, combining sweeping black contours with bold biomorphic forms in vivid greens, cobalt blues, pinks, and yellows. The simplified composition and saturated palette create a strong visual presence while retaining the playful, organic character found throughout her work. Signed on the reverse stretcher bar so the work may be displayed in any orientation according to the collector's preference. Presented in a warm-toned wood gallery frame and ready to hang.
We purchased a significant portion of Patricia Sloane's estate and are proud to offer one of the largest private collections of her work. We have paintings in a variety of sizes, styles, and color palettes, along with personal photographs, writings, and archival materials. Please contact us if you are looking for a particular size or style.
Certification: Gallery Certificate of Authenticity included.
Condition: Very good vintage condition. The painting displays beautifully with light wear consistent with age. The frame has minor cosmetic wear from normal handling. Please review all photographs.
Measurements: Canvas measures 43" x 35". Framed dimensions are approximately 45.5" x 37.5".
