An elegant 18th Century Neapolitan School still life depicting an abundant arrangement of flowers in a terracotta urn alongside a basket of fruit on a stone ledge, with additional fruit arranged in the foreground and a dramatic landscape beyond. Rich chiaroscuro, warm earth tones, and the beautifully balanced composition are characteristic of the Neapolitan still-life tradition. The painting is unsigned.

This painting was purchased by the present owner at Bonhams, London, in 2013, where it was catalogued as:

“Neapolitan School, 18th Century – Roses, lilies, poppies and other flowers in a vase on a stone ledge.”
