In 1920, the British Consulate in Naples handled the issuing of visas and passports, a crucial function in an era marked by massive post-war migration and the first severe restrictions on landings introduced that year by the British government. Crafted from solid walnut with drawer fronts made of walnut slab (a half-centimeter thick slab of solid walnut). The filing cabinet is composed of four vertical columns, each with four large drawers, each featuring a wood and iron mechanism that keeps documents organized. Each drawer is enhanced with shell handles and brushed brass label holders, typical elements of office furniture from the first half of the 20th century. Partially restored, the filing cabinet is in excellent condition. The two end modules have infill sides, while the two central modules do not. Each module measures: H. 156 cm, W. 43.5 cm, D. 55.5 cm See less
