A fantastic set of six dining chairs, model 16, designed by Danish furniture designer Johannes Andersen and manufactured by Uldum Møbelfabrik in Denmark during the 1960s.
This is a chair where craftsmanship, design and comfort meet at the highest level. Almost every line is softly shaped and elaborated, giving the chair a sculptural expression that feels as modern today as when it was designed over 60 years ago.
The chair is made of teak and is characterized by its elegant, coil-shaped legs. The slightly angled back legs run up and naturally merge into the beautifully curved backrest, which surrounds the back and provides very comfortable support. The slim and softly shaped side pieces connect the back and seat in a soft, sweeping movement that testifies to furniture craftsmanship beyond the ordinary.
There are basically no angular details. Each transition is softly rounded and carefully crafted, giving the chair a light and harmonious expression from all angles. The combination of the organic shapes and the warm teak makes the model one of Johannes Andersen's most elegant chairs.
New upholstery with very good load-bearing capacity and upholstered in an exclusive furniture fabric in a warm greige shade. The fabric has a soft, bouclé-like structure that gives the chair a cozy and exclusive expression while highlighting the beautiful luster of the teak.
The chairs are just as beautiful around a dining table as they are freestanding in a study, bedroom or hallway, where their sculptural shape really comes into its own.
