Whether displayed as a sculptural centerpiece, an elegant desk accessory, or a sophisticated paperweight, this exceptional piece brings timeless Italian craftsmanship to any space. Finely hand-chased in gilt brass, the ashtray is designed as an imaginary aquatic flower—reminiscent of a lotus or water lily—with beautifully sculpted stamens and delicately veined petals. Its organic form reflects the fascination with nature that characterized Italian decorative arts of the period, when artisans sought to faithfully recreate botanical and animal motifs using finely cast and hand-finished metal alloys. This remarkable vintage ashtray was made in Florence, Italy, by Luciano Montagnani, whose workshop produced exquisite home accessories for the luxury house Gucci during the mid-20th century. A particularly ingenious feature of this piece is that each petal can be easily detached from the central flower, becoming an individual ashtray for guests—making it as functional as it is decorative. When assembled, it transforms into an impressive sculptural centerpiece that celebrates the elegance of Italian craftsmanship. The piece is in good vintage condition, fully intact, and retains a beautiful original patina acquired over time, enhancing its authenticity and character. See less
