A striking sculptural composition by belgian artist lode tibos, created in the ninetees. Combining belgian bluestone, carrara marble and lead, the work reflects tibos’ fascination with material contrast, balance and architectural form.
the sculpture is composed of two vertically rising stone elements that frame a central lead spine, crowned by a delicately carved carrara marble form. The composition creates a powerful dialogue between weight and lightness, permanence and fragility. The rough texture of the bluestone contrasts beautifully with the refined surface of the marble, while the lead element introduces a rhythmic vertical accent that draws the eye upward through the composition.
although entirely abstract, the work subtly evokes human, architectural and ceremonial associations. The restrained geometry and careful material selection place the sculpture within the tradition of european constructivist and minimalist sculpture, while retaining a distinctly poetic character.
its strong vertical presence and refined craftsmanship make the work equally compelling as a standalone sculpture or as part of a curated collection of contemporary european art.
