This unique piece of textile wall art features a beautifully balanced, symmetrical composition of two stylized peacocks or roosters facing each other. The design showcases distinct modernist geometric patterns, such as the two-tone checkered necks, which are highly characteristic of late 1950s Nordic graphic design.
The artwork is created using the traditional yarn-applied-with-adhesive technique, where thick, textured wool yarns in shades of dusty pink, deep plum, rustic orange, and blue are meticulously laid over a natural raw fiammato linen base. A fascinating detail for collectors is that the original pencil preparatory grid sketched by the artisan remains clearly visible beneath the linen fibers, adding an authentic, hand-crafted studio charm.The piece has been preserved in its original, unrestored state to protect its historical integrity. Presented in good/fair untouched vintage condition, showing an honest and attractive patina. Due to the natural aging and crystallization of the original 70-year-old adhesive, a few perimeter wool threads have detached from the linen base (including loose light blue yarn ends and a small broken dark blue thread section in the upper tail corner). The piece must be handled with care, kept in a dry environment, and should not be washed or aggressively brushed.
