Villabadessa was established in the mid-18th century when Albanian families from Piqeras fled Ottoman persecution. This Arbëresh (Italo-Albanian) dress is distinctive due to its resemblance to the two-apron type of dress seen in Albania.This is one of an exquisite series of costume paintings that we have for sale by Michela de Vito.In watercolour on cream wove paper, mounted on original backing paper with Italian inscription and window cut verso.
