Mid-century organic abstraction, Full Moon is an original 1971 dimensional mixed media relief by the artist McCabe. The piece balances intense textural contrast, utilizing a deeply layered visage offset by a central, heavily crazed ochre and cream circular motif. The composition offers exceptional tactile and spatial depth, capturing the raw, Earth-centric ethos of the early 1970s California studio art movement.
The artwork resides in its original minimalist walnut-toned wood gallery frame. Inscribed, titled, and dated by the artist on the reverse upper frame casing.
Part of a decades-spanning private collection assembled by Eve Paige Spencer, an enamel artist, and her husband Donner Spencer, a writer and art collector, with a shared appreciation for expressive, handcrafted work. This sculptural relief reflects the tactile, dimensional pieces that rounded out their collecting interests.
