Guided by currents in the wood grain, the basket is shaped with irregular edges and undulating curves, continuing a tradition of tree root & burl sculpture that was popular throughout the Qing dynasty (1644-1911). With a smooth texture that calls to be touched, the carved basket is wonderful today as a fruit bowl or tabletop planter. See less
