Offered is a beautiful antique covered serving dish (covered vegetable dish or tureen) manufactured expressly for the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition (Chicago World’s Fair).
The base bears the handwritten factory inscription:
“Manufactured expressly for World’s Fair Chicago U.S.A.
International Pottery Co.
Trenton, N.J.
1893”
The piece features a rich cobalt blue ground with elegant gilt floral decoration and a matching domed lid with gilt trim and molded handle. The underside displays an underglaze blue factory mark and original kiln stilt marks, all consistent with late 19th-century production. The International Pottery Company of Trenton was one of America’s leading manufacturers of semi-porcelain and decorated tableware during this period.
