An early 20th century two door armoire of figured mahogany by Waring & Gillow of Lancaster, England. This armoire has a subtle serpentine shape to the front, featuring four large panels on the doors of wonderfully figured mahogany. The ovoid handles on the doors are cast brass of an tear-drop deign and turn to open. The pediment features a curved dentil crown moulding supported by chamfered corners that terminate at the base to a gracefully curved apron and bracket feet. There is a stamped brass label on the interior of the right door and the locket set is also stamped by the firm name on the edge of the door. The paneled oak interior of the armoire sports 2 brass clothes hanging bars as well as wall mounted brass hooks, and there is a small hanging cubby for additional storage. The firm of Waring & Gillow ceased doing business in the early 1960s.
