Highly popular during the 1960s and 1970s- they were imported from Asian countries and highly collectible. It is celebrated for its dramatic, oversized woven "fan" backrest and distinct bohemian style aesthetic.

I have bought and sold many of this these and am stunned by the practically unused condition of the wicker/rattan, it still is bright, the caramel wicker color is not faded very minimal inconsistencies in the weaves, with only one real trouble spot shown in a photo with my (two pieces of the weave have separated- luckily in a spot that doesn’t really matter!)

Huey Newton was famously photographed in one capitulating the notion of Black liberation; Beyoncé used one on stage during a world tour; Brigitte Bardot and Cher were shot in them for idyllic bohemian photo shoots.

Notably, the seat is well woven, well attached and zero problems or issues (as when the seat on these goes, they are very expensive to repair!); happily this one is perfect and pristine!

Truly is an extremely well preserved, large, and detailed peacock chair. Especially loving the black wicker woven into the design, giving it even more chic look in your room picking up all the black accents in the home.
