French majolica duck water pitcher by St. Clément. Rich colourisation and glaze and in a very nice condition.
St. Clément majolica is characterized by the subtle shadings of colours. The majolica pieces include a series of figural jugs or absinthe pitchers in the form of a duck with folded wings, a rooster, or a parrot. Also other animals can be found, like a pig, rabbit, cat, monkey or poodle, but are more rare. Old pitchers mostly have 3-digit numbers while newer productions carry 4-digit numbers. They were mostly produced in the 1920s and 1930s. They are all truly lovely historic pieces of fabulous St. Clément pottery.
