A stone or marble composite sculpture of The Awakening by Vincent Glinsky. Off white or ivory in color that looks very much like real marble. These sculptures were put out by the Sculpture Collectors Limited in the 1960s with another of his sculptures. These were originally shown at the 1939's New York World's Fair Sculpture Garden.
"The Awakening" led to Glinsky winning the Widener Gold Medal. The George D. Widener Memorial Gold Medal was a prestigious sculpture prize awarded by the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts from 1913 to 1968. Established in 1912, it recognized the "most meritorious work of Sculpture modeled by an American citizen and shown in the Annual Exhibition."
