Charming mid-20th century Turkish / Ottoman style portrait miniature depicting a bearded gentleman in traditional dress with white turban, red cap, blue sleeves and fur-trimmed robe. The work has a wonderful hand-painted look with fine pencil detailing and soft watercolor/gouache-style color on paper.

Presented under glass with a deep navy mat and gilt wood frame. The reverse retains a Galeri Bal, Cihangir Istanbul frame/gallery label. Pencil signature on the back appears to read Nadide Kilic, though the attribution is not confirmed.

A lovely small decorative piece with strong color, Middle Eastern / Ottoman revival charm and a great aged presentation.

Condition
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. The gilt frame shows scuffs, rubs, small losses and patina throughout. Artwork shows natural toning, spotting and age marks to the paper. Some glare visible in photos from the glass. Not examined out of frame. See less
