Beautiful sketch/drawing/painting.
Believed to be of pastels, watercolor, and ink … of a California Field Quail … consistent with the partial notation on the backside of this piece.
Exquisite detail and vibrant colors.
Heavy pine wood frame 1.5 inches wide and 1.5 deep.
The frame surface was an antiqued gold striated smear … that was beyond restoration … which was recently refinished and professionally sprayed in a vibrant teal … to highlight the artwork.
Five separate mats ! Five !!!!!
Gold beaded border highlights.
Heavy glass.
We had the brown paper back removed to paint the frame and to access possible identifying art and/or artist information; which was discovered. (And hence, the tape tearing on the back.)
This piece appears to have been created in 2006 (or perhaps 1996) from a notation on its back; at its upper left-hand corner as shown in a photo.
The additional written notations we conjecture to be remnants of a “Field Quail” title denomination description … by an “artist” named JB.
We’re looking for an artist that “goes by JB that was known for similar bird sketchings”… but so far … no such luck.
Secure hanging braided picture wire.
Heavy piece @ close to 5 pounds.
Very, very impressive artwork.
And a fabulous matted frame.
