A charming example of early twentieth-century English barware, this circa 1905 silverplate ice bucket is an outstanding blend of practicality, craftsmanship, and whimsical design. Beautifully formed to resemble a traditional wooden coopered bucket, the body is decorated with engraved vertical staves and horizontal bands that convincingly imitate the construction of a rustic wooden pail, all executed in gleaming silverplate. The result is a delightful novelty piece that reflects the creativity and elegance of the Edwardian era.
The bucket retains its original fitted strainer, allowing melted ice to drain away while keeping fresh ice conveniently elevated above the water. A sturdy swing handle completes the authentic bucket form, making it easy to carry while adding to its sculptural appeal. Its bright silver finish beautifully reflects the surrounding light, giving the piece a crisp, elegant presentation whether displayed on a bar, dining table, or drinks trolley.
The bucket measures 5.25 inches high, 5 inches deep, and 5.75 inches wide, standing 8.25 inches high with the handle fully extended. Substantial in both construction and weight, this is a quality-made piece weighing approximately 1 pound 6 ounces, offering a satisfying feel that reflects its excellent craftsmanship. While originally intended for serving ice at the table or cocktail bar, it also makes a handsome cachepot, wine accessory, or decorative accent in both traditional and contemporary interiors. Good antique condition with light signs of wear and use. Please review the photos for further condition assessment.
With its distinctive novelty design, original strainer, and bright silver finish, this delightful English silverplate ice bucket is a wonderful addition to any collection of antique barware, entertaining accessories, or fine decorative arts.
