The Eersani tribe, the most numerous among the Turkmen tribe, takes its name from the legendary Turkmen hero Ersari Khan. The group's carpets generally attributed to the Ersari include specimens characterized by a vast repertoire of compositional schemes, drawings, and techniques; this is because, under the generic name of Ersari, carpets knotted by various sub-tribes are included. Of great interest is the archaic polygonal motif decorated with thin pendants (probably its derivation from ancient fabrics). In orderly rows decorates the field of this carpet, which under the tent had welcoming distinguished guests. See less
