"Kaleidoscope Chairs III" is one image from a three-photograph series created aboard a Princess Cruise to Alaska in 2009. Rather than documenting the voyage itself, Baker turned his attention to the quiet geometry of the ship—transforming ordinary deck furnishings into a study of color, shadow, balance, and form.
Two white deck chairs sit beneath a circular standing table while strong afternoon sunlight projects an intricate lattice of architectural shadows across the warm deck. The contrast between the saturated cobalt blues of the sea and ship, the brilliant white furniture, and the golden deck creates an almost painterly composition. The resulting image blurs the boundary between photography and abstraction, inviting the viewer to appreciate the hidden beauty found in everyday spaces.
Printed on archival matte photographic paper, this original photograph measures 13 inches by 19 inches and is sold unframed.
