This monumental "Transatlantico" table lamp is a breathtaking statement piece handcrafted in Murano, Italy, during the 1980s. Due to its imposing proportions—standing at an impressive 65 cm tall and weighing a massive 7.7 kg of solid art glass—this artwork possesses a commanding architectural presence. While traditionally a table lamp, its sheer scale allows it to seamlessly function as an exclusive floor lamp.Every detail of this piece speaks of high-end curation. It features a specific, original short wiring cord ("vena corta"), meticulously engineered from the era for placement on presidential desks, executive offices, or elegant entryway consoles. This intentional design ensures a clean, wire-free presentation on luxury freestanding furniture without unsightly cords draping across open spaces. The true showstopper is the spectacular decorative collar. It is composed of individual, hand-sculpted diamond glass pendants that alternate in shades of light blue and deep cobalt blue. When the three E14 light sources are switched on, these shimmering crystals create a dramatic refraction—resembling a vibrant, glowing Aurora Borealis effect. The lamp beautifully showcases an iconic 1980s Postmodern bi-color aesthetic: a brilliant chrome-plated mirror base contrasted by polished gold-toned hardware inserts. The top features a majestic 53 cm diameter shade made of premium white cased (incamiciato) Murano glass, diffusing a soft, sophisticated glow.
Condition Report
Excellent vintage condition. The glass components are perfectly intact, with absolutely no cracks or chips. The metal elements are bright and well-preserved; the chrome base is shiny, and the gold-toned parts retain a beautiful luster, showing only a natural vintage patina with minor, expected peeling of the original protective Zapon lacquer in a few small spots. Fully functional.
